What municipal fleets need from a body shop

Public-sector work is judged on repeatability and documentation as much as on the repair.

Agency and municipal repair work has requirements a retail job doesn’t. Meeting them is mostly about process discipline.

Repeatability. The tenth unit has to be finished to the same standard as the first. That means a documented sequence per vehicle, not a different technician’s judgment each time.

Documentation that survives an audit. Photos at each stage, itemized invoicing, and a consistent file structure per unit. If the paperwork varies vehicle to vehicle, someone downstream has a problem.

Markings and livery to standard. Numbering, decals and agency identification reinstated exactly — position included, not approximately.

Predictable turnaround. Fleet managers plan around dates. A shop that quotes honestly and hits the date is worth more than one that quotes optimistically.

Compliance and insurance on file. Vendor requirements, certificates and invoicing formats handled without chasing.
